A Family Tradition In Cultivating Olive Trees

Welcome to the Yannakopoulos grove!

The Yannakopoulos family has been operating in the trade for many generations by producing olives, extracting virgin olive oil and by making products which are the basis of Mediterranean nutrition. Nowadays the three generations of the family take care of the cultivation of the 150 acres of the olive grove which is located in Platanovrisi Messinia and comprises 3.500 olive trees. The Yannakopoulos olive grove is extended by two new olive groves of 40 acres with 800 new olive trees.

The Yannakopoulos grove is located in the hilly area of Messinia, home of the best table olives in the world, the Kalamata olive.

In an altitude of 400-600m, only 50km from Koroni, the place where the most famous variety of oil was born, the Yannakopoulos family produces its products, extra virgin oil and the early harvest extra virgin olive oil (exclusively from Koroneiki olives) as well as the table Kalamata olive.

Our cultivation is organic with zero environmental footprint as befits the best Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the Kalamata Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the most famous table olive Kalamata Olive.

Our Products

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL (organic P.D.O.)

The fruit of the Koroneiki olive tree is harvested in a traditional way (by beating the branches and pruning) and within 24 hours it is put in the olive press. At this point, in a natural way, exclusively with mechanical means and with a temperature below 26C, the natural juice of the olive is extracted, that is the extra virgin olive oil or the extra virgin green oil. Then it is stored in appropriate tanks, which are cooled with liquid nitrogen, so that it can be preserved in optimal conditions.

KALAMATA OLIVES (organic P.D.O.)

The fruit of the Kalamata olive tree is picked by hand or with special combs and then it is taken directly to the standardization where it is selected, washed and put in salted water( water and salt solution) until it is completely unbitter. Then we change the water repeatedly until all the salt is removed and the olives are packed away in traditional brine flavoured with aromatic herbs, which are picked from the surrounding mountains. Our characteristic recipe originates from the recipes of our grandmothers and adds a unique taste to our olive, which is unsalted.

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL EARLY HARVEST (organic P.D.O.)

It is richer in vitamins E and A, omega 3, omega 6, omega 9 fatty acids, eleuropein and other antioxidants. All these add to a high nutritional value. It has a rich and intense smell and a characteristic fruity, spicy and bitter taste. It is produced from the first unripe fruit of the olive which is picked by hand without beating the branches and follows the same careful procedure of production as the extra virgin oil.

OLIVE OIL SOAP (organic)

With respect to the environment, our biological olive oil is used to make handmade soap which is produced in the traditional cold process method(without additionals).
